Outgoing President Rupiah Banda of the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) party has been credited for conceding defeat gracefully and listening to the will of the Zambian people. The MMD had been the ruling party for the last 20 years.

H.E. President Sata, popularly known as ‘King Cobra’ for his sharp tongue, is 74 years old and has held ministerial positions in past governments.
